OK, as I posted elsewhere, I'm having a flare-up of a toe problem that seems to be a result of pounding that treadmill.
I was going to skip a workout to give it a chance to heal, but I decided not to do that.
So, today I did do my normal wworkout, but I have some questions.
Instead of the treadmill, I did the elliptical. It does seem to result in much less pounding on my toe. I was surprised to find that it was much more strenuous than the treadmill. Now, is that generally true, or might it be because I'm used to the treadmill and the elliptical was new. I also found that it really worked my front and rear thigh muscles much more than the treadmill. With the treadmill, I do 8-11 laps at roughly 3.7-3.9 mph and my heart rate is generally 135 or so, maybe peaking at 141. With the elliptical, I had to push but did 30 minutes and my heartrate was a very consistent 141-143, peaking at 146. So, indeed, it was harder. Suppposedly and elliptical is better for ones knees. However, in the past I always found it harder on my knees. I think that part went fine today.
Any comments?
