27 Year survivor. This guy was dx. in 1984.

Wonder how many other stories are lurking out there. Dr. Fred Lee is also a 27 yr. survivor on his PCa case, age 80 now and he was found uncureable 25 yrs. ago...but managed to keep it at bay...very miraculous and without Lupron or LHRH drugs, go figure. You can google his PCa story (rochester urology is within the link, his author is a surgeon friend).

Keep looking for these cases Chris, we don't hear about to many of them.

THANKS CHRIS . We do not read stats or nano's or treatment comparisons now, but I do read these sort of things... I am hoping my husband (diagnosed on his 49th birthday) has this sort of outcome too. I also hope there is a cure in the next generation which will protect our sons. But this story gives great hope to many. Thanks for posting it.  There are a few such stories out there.  I have a colleague who told me a few years ago, that her father lived for 25 years after being treated for prostate cancer in the 70's with no further reoccurance.

My father had his prostate removed at 53 and I had by recent diagnosis at 41. 

I just spoke to my 39 year old brother tonight who just came back with a PSA of 1.9.  While this number does not appear high on its own, I think combined with age and family history, not good.

It appears that he unfortunately may be following the family tradition...
