a second AMS800 anyone?

Hi guys,

I had my radical prost. in May 2004. It went well and I have been cancer free since. ( I turned 75 in December)
I had my AMS800 implanted in March 2007. It has always leaked a little bit.

about 8-9 months ago I had to go to a heavier pad during the day.
For about 2 weeks now, I am using 2 Always maxi (brand) long-super size (on the pkg. picture the second from the left of 4 illustrations) per day and one half of a thin pad at night.
I am up 1-2 times per nite. I have always had an urgency situation even after Kegal training, etc.

What next? A urologist I saw yesterday said maybe they would 'replace' the implant that is in. No rush and I will see my main urologist in May.

Any experience out there about this? or knowledge about alternatives?

A second question. I was taking Detrol LA and switched to Oxybutynin ER (10 mg) several months ago.
Anyone had experience with a newer, more expensive drug called: Toviaz ?

I had talked to my surgeon about the AMS 800 and the statistics about failure. I was worried that if it had failed, would I be in a pinch and have to get cathed until they operated on me to get it fixed. He said no.. if it failed I just would leak like I did before the implant.

I thought about a double cuff, but I would take the minor leakage over the possiblity of a double problem.

My surgeon also put in a larger cuff than normal. Said he could later put in a smaller one if I leaked too much. I think again I will deal with the little leakage I have. I use a thin pad a day and am happy with it.

The only problem I have is if I sit wrong I will leak. Also I seem to be better during the day than when I lay at night. Do not know why but I leak at four hours laying down. Do not standing?
