Wow, I cannot believe how blatantly ignorant the conclusion of this article! The study found 115 incidents of cancer out of a total of 558 biopsies. That is a detection rate of 20.6%! That is pretty darn good! But the article frames it as unsuccessful because there were 433 biopsies that did not result in cancer. Wow. Let those 20.6% of men not know they have prostate cancer, no choice in care, and many of them dying of the cancer, especially if they are younger men? Further, the Gleason Score could then be used to note how aggressive the cancer is and give a better indication of the need for treatment.
I can only imagine this is a cost cutting measure, because even an 8th grader can see how this conclusion is not warranted. Do they also recommend no colonoscopies because so many don't find cancer?
