Has anyone used MD ANDERSON, Dr. Davis, for the davinci?? Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Texas Cajun, Welcome to Healing well. I see you looking for a Dr at MD Anderson. Im sure someone will jump in shortly. What part of TX are you in . I know that there is a large Cajun community in Port Arther.

You minght want develop a signature that gives us a bit of you histroy.

From on Cajun to the next you will find a very helpful group of guys here.

If you live near Austin, I recommend Dr. Randy Fagin, he did my DaVinci. He has done over 2000 such surgeries.

I know a urologist doing his fellowship at MD Anderson. He said that Dr. Davis is who he would recommend for robotic surgery at MD Anderson. He has a good reputation at that hospital.

Dr. Davis did my surgery on 2-28. All I know is my personal experience to this point which appears to me to extraordinary. Went back to work in my office on the 7th day after surgery. Minimal pain - needed the strong stuff for only one day out of the hospital. Catheter out 2 days later without incident. Trying to determine now what incontinence issues will be but I'm not sure there will be any (or at least any significant ones). Stirrings of "other" functional return already.

MDA in my experience is a first class operation. Everyone is helpful and kind. They are extremely thorough and professional. The initial appt took just a half a day and I saw Dr. Davis and a radiologist and several others.

Its a big place but people help you get around. The hospital nursing staff appeared to be adequate in number (this is a real problem many places) and professional.

From conversations with other who have had prostate surgery (not of Dr. Davis' patients) it appears that my rate of recovery and results are extraordinary especially in light of the fact that I am overweight and not an ideal surgical cantidate.

From my experience so far, I can't say anything but very good things.
