Hello, I have been lurking in the background since my PCa diagnosis in Feb. 2011. The stories and information provided by this site really helped with my decision to have surgery. So far, I have no regrets with my decision. Thank you everyone!

The only issue I have at the moment is numbness with two fingers and thumb of right hand. After surgery, there was no feeling in those fingers and palm. Feeling gradually came back but still tingly on the tips of fingers/thumb and will go numb if arm is bent for more than a few minutes. Anyone else have this problem after surgery?

Hey, that's interesting! At some point during my surgery and recovery, the little finger of my right hand went numb..It still worked okay, I could move it, but it had no feeling..Now, 6 months post-op, it's much better, just a little numb..

I remember the anesthesiologist saying he was going to inject something into my spine which would provide 6 to 10 hours of post-op pain relief and hopefully avoid the need for narcotic pain relievers. That turned out to be the case, I had no post-op pain..

I mentioned the numb finger to several doctors but none of them thought it was significant or that it was connected to my surgery...

The anaesthetist did say after surgery the arm(s) are mobilized but they use gel pads to avoid this happening. The surgery was about 5 hours long so I guess this is bound to happen from time to time. I'm just a little paranoid because the fellow next to me in hospital walked in before his surgery but is now wheel chair dependent because of a "pinched" nerve one month post-op.

Oh great - this issue has me very concerned. I've decided to have RALP, and am an architect....as in....I REALLY need the use of my fingers to draw.

I'll monitor this thread, and appreciate the OP posting it.
