I apologize if this was already brought up. Yesterday the New York Times had a front page article on Provenge, Zytiga, Jevtana, and Cabozantinib. Dr. Myers was quoted.

(That link seems to work for now, but NYT has a paywall, so the free availability of the article may be short-lived.)

I read this yesterday, there was a paragragh that pissed me off so much that I turned away in disgust:
"Mr. Kay said he had initially thought that his company, which is based in Norway, would charge about
$25,000 for a typical course of treatment with the drug, Alpharadin. But with the rival drug Jevtana costing about
$50,000, Algeta and its partner, Bayer, are considering a higher price."
So this huge drug company figured in a nice profit for a drug many people may need to remain alive. Fine. But here it appears to say they are basically conspiring to price fix, and raise the price, because they can.
How bout they force the "rival" drug to come down in price to meet them instead, so more can afford to live?
So much for ethics and morality. IMO.
Good thoughts to all on a sunny Cape Cod day.

The entire "Cancer Drug" situation is pretty disgusting, really..They ALL cost an outrageous amount of money if they are patented..
As these drugs are developed, the backstage maneuvering begins to maximize PROFITS! The drug companies all claim they spend vast amounts on research developing these drugs but when you check their books, they spend more on marketing them!! Much of the actual research is government sponsored! Paid for with tax money!
When Jonas Salk developed the Polio Vaccine, no attempt was made to patent it! The formula was given away to any company who wanted to make the vaccine..Within months, millions of school children were lining up to get a free polio shot...
Using today's standards, those shots would cost parents $1000 or more each as Corporate Welfare is now more important than our Nations welfare....

I have not seen anything about
Jennings, hope he is doing OK. The results of these drugs in my opinion dont sound as promisiing as they are being promoted.....
