Does anyone know anything about
treating low testosterone on an athletic 38 yr old. Just diagnosed with Low T and trying to have kids. Doctor wanting to start HRT and wanting to know what I'm getting into.

Ironman,
I think you need to consult an endocrinologist to find the cause of your low testosterone before you decide to go the TRT route which could be the wrong way to go. Have they checked your sperm count? Have they checked your luteinizing hormone (LH)? Supplementing with exogenous (externally produced)testosterone increases total testosterone but reduces endogenous (naturally produced) testosterone.
If you are a distance runner (endurance exercise) , this might reduce your testosterone. Doing resistance exercise (weights) can increase your natural testosterone production. In summary, address the issue either with an endocrinologist of a fertility specialist.
