One week post seed implants

It's been one week since I had my seed implants. Just the past couple of days I have started to notice some urgency/frequency. Typically this happens in the late afternoon. I have to see if something is triggering this or jus the normal process. The past few nights I have had to get up for a piss in the middle of the night. No burning yet. I seem a bit tired and have been going to sleep earlier. I don’t know if it’s the treatment or my imagination. I am enjoying the extra sleep though! :-)

In my case, it is caffeine and alcohol which still cause 'urgency'. Not so much that I avoid either though. Glad to hear that you are doing well. You made an excellent choice.

G6, nothing seems too out of the ordinary here.  As GOP says, avoid caffeine and alcohol for sure for the first 3 months.  Your tiredness may be just a result of the whole stress of PCa, having a treatment, etc.  I doubt that the seeds are doing much in that regard.

when will they do your first post-treatment PSA?

At six days after i was up every 30 minutes to pee and  had some of the worst SEs of my treatment.  but i was also on lupron, flomax and celexa so who knows how much the other stuff contributed.

Good question. I haev appointment with the urologist in a week and the radiation guy in three weeks. PSA will be on my list of questions. I really don't want to start down that path though of living PSA to PSA, but I guess it's the path I'm on.

F8,

Did your symptoms get better? I feel kind of badly making anything out of what I have thgouh. It is a pain though when I get in the car to think about "How long is this drive" and making sure I go before I leave. I know that the SE are secondary to beating the cancer though Just hope the seeds are doing their thing. No more...no less..

G6 -- eventually but after that i had another six months of lupron and IGRT. Today all is well.

G6 -- i had IGRT about six or seven weeks after seeds.  at that time i was still having some urinary issues and i guess some pain (for lack of a better word). i remember my radiation oncologist  asking me about the side effects of the seeds and me telling him that i thought it was maybe too early to embark on IGRT.  but he said i was ready.  he also said that i could expect the SEs to get a little worse while receiving IGRT but better later.

that's pretty much how it happened.  today everything is okay but a little different.  i guess what i'm saying is to give it time but make sure you discuss this stuff with your doctors.  there are always things they can do like a short course of prednisone.  are you taking aleve?  i was told to take aleve twice a day after BT and while i was receiving IGRT.  and while on IGRT i did prednisone twice, six days each time.  hang in there.

I don't know what SE is, but I had some discomfort for a while, and it got bad sometimes. I told my doc, and he prescribed a mild steroid short time, and it worked like a charm. Don't hesitate to tell your doc if you have problems.

Hi Gleason 6,
Sounds like you are doing just fine and make the most of the extra sleep if you can get it. The tiredness could be as simple as having disturbed sleep if you aren’t used to getting up for a pee during the night (us ladies are well versed at it!).
Jeff’s urinary symptoms are history so he laughs at me now when we are heading out for a long drive and I still check if he needs a pee before we go ...... just like having the kids all over again!
