Got a call late today from St. Francis Hospital here in Greenville.  The person that is heading the special oncology function this Thursday evening  (the one that I was filmed in), told me that one of the local television stations wanted to interview me, and if I would be interested.  Kind of shocked me to be honest, and scared me at the same time.  The hospital is real interested in promoting their Oncology Rehab, and was equally surprised that the TV station picked up on it already.  I gave tentative agreement, but only if I would be allowed to put in a specific plug at some point for Prostate Cancer.  The woman at the hospital had no problem with it, and will be getting back to me.  For a guy that shys from any kind of public contact in real life, I find it odd that these opportunties are popping up.  I am use to being on the shooting side of the lens, not the lens itself, lol.

What the hell. I say go for it. I think it might feel rewarding doing something yourself to help future guys like us. Lord knows the american cancer society isnt helping our cause any. Good luck. Youll do just fine, Remember to post up the link for us :)

Ah at last the career is blossoming. Small part in a hospital presentation, now television. Obviously the blockbuster movie is next, then the academy awards. I knew all along what you were made of David and you are just the man for the job. You may just push a few men into getting checked out. Well done.

I couldn't do even a pro-PSA test ad lest I be deemed un-employable. That is why there is no name in my profile.

Any chance of getting your autograph? tongue . Pretty soon you'll be rolling in money. Hopefully they'll let you speak your mind and let you get a few things off your chest.

Congrats anyway. It's nice to be in the same club with someone famous.

If you can save just one life by telling your story and pushing some poor guy to get PCa screened it is worth the exposure. Keep us proud!

This is kind of on the subject and a little off the subject. It's on the subject that we need the word out about prostrate cancer. How many people have had the expirence when talking to people and have said they had prostrate cancer got the responce "oh it's only prostrate cancer" or "If you're going to get cancer that's the one to get" ?

No fame or glory or money being sought on this one, if I can get over my hidden ways and acutually do this thing, it will be only for a unique to get out a PC and PSA message out to many more people than I would normally have access to. If the television station won't accomodate me on that part, its a no deal.

You're in demand now Purg (you must be a charmer!). It's nice that with all you are going through you can find the time and energy to do this to promote awareness. Good luck and keep us posted on the release of your other documentary.

Gleason, thanks, but I am hardly the charmer. Just another smuck with cancer, though when given a chance to talk about it, to a willing audience, I don't mind sharing my story and struggles. I certainly wouldn't be seeking things like this, one thing has led to the next, so we will see what happens.

David write down what you want to say, and read it, worked every time for me, even the President does that, makes things easier, I always have done it, I was glad I did once, my boss told me that I was booked to give a lecture one Friday morning "to a few people".

When I walked into the room, there was nearly 100 people!! that made me very nervous, but the notes I had saved me.

David, don't forget about the residuals when you negotiate your contract.  After appearing on the network, I'm sure there will be re-runs on TBS or TNT (maybe Lifetime or Bravo).  Gotta get your share!

All kidding aside, I am sure most, if not many of you, given an opportunity to plug our cause, no matter what media method is used, would jump on the chance. I didn't seek out or ask for this chance, just popped into my life. If each of us, can only reach out and get a single guy to get a PSA/DRE that had never thought about it or PC before, I think we woud be doing a good thing.

Tommorow evening I go to the presentation program and dinner on behalf of my Rehab center. Aside from showing the films, they are having a nationally known cancer specialist as a speaker.

While I am still strugglilng on my ht and awaiting next appointment it is good to tune ito this forum and se eyour name popping up once again. Best of luck with your promotional interview on pc. I have no doubt tht you are the right person for the task and best of luck. will report on next visit when it finally comes. i am peeeeeed off here on my ht but working on physical work that i should have done to my house twenty years agoa. Guess what i am eventually putting a toilet in my workshop after so many years of nagging from my darlin wife. i think that she knew i would need it more often long before i did....
