The released bomber of PanAm Flight 103 is alive they say due to Abiraterone...

I am posting this for the positive value of Zytiga (abiraterone) and not for much else. Please keep the politics out of this post.

Tony ~ I'm glad you put a question mark in your title. There is very little fact here that Abiraterone is responsible for al-Megrahi's new lease of life. The best I can see is

A leading cancer specialist, [Roger Kirby] however, said 59-year-old al-Megrahi appeared to be receiving a cutting-edge hormone treatment [presumably Abiraterone] and could live for several more years.

Which looks like a lot of speculation to me. It could just as easily be life outside prison, new diet and the fresh desert air :-)

I had found the following when someone on my thread mentioned Dr. Oliver Sartor, of Tulane Medical.
He actually testified as to the accuracy or lack there of, of the facts.

I think we are reading it wrong. It says that he was being kept alive by Abiraterone. I think they are referring to Abdelbase's brother, Abiraterone al-Megrahi.

Actually that made me laugh. Would Zytiga be an appropriate name for a sister or does Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc. own the naming rights in humans, too?

Further news reports state that he died in 2012.
