And I thought I got a bad deal being diagnosed at 52. Maybe the glass is half full. I wish the best for his family.

I met Tim Barber at a presentation he made at the Bert Chamberland Banner Desert Medical Center support group in Mesa, AZ, This was in August of 2010. This young man had gone through the ringer. RP, SRT, HT, Chemo all one after the other.

This while working as a detective for the Tempe police department. He promoted PCa awareness by talking to different groups and the media. I was enormously impressed with his dedication and his unwavering will power to beat the disease.

Unfortunately his cancer was extremely aggressive and in spite of all his efforts it took him down in a little over two years from diagnosis. In all my years as a survivor I have only known of two cases like Tim's case and they were both older men. RIP Tim...you fought the good fight.

This terrible disease we all share should no longer be called the"old man's disease" as far too many of our brothers are diagnosed and yes some dying everyday at ages that are not "old".

Thanks to this forum I am thanking God that I am doing as well as I am too.

it's not an old man's disease as far as I'm concerned. This tragic story really hit close to home.
