I had the DaVinci surgery on July 25, nearly 7 weeks ago. I am already starting to "forget" the intensity of feelings I had as the date approached. I do remember taking a lot of time to work on managing my anxiety: exercise, a good diet, sleep, and relaxation techniques helped me a lot. In retrospect, the surgery, while clearly major, was a "piece of cake." I returned to work (sedentary) after three weeks, and my continence issues, while variable in the beginning, are close to being completely resolved now. I just wear a pad in the daytime because I am not yet completely confident that I won't leak; I never leaked during sleep. While ED is a very significant issue right now, I am taking Cialis 5mg/day and hoping for the best. I wish you, FrackMe and you, cmetalman, all the best!!!

Frack,

I sure hope you are working this weekend on making sure your prostate gets returned on Monday empty with flat tires.  smilewinkgrin

By this time next week you are going to say to yourself, that wasn't so bad, 2 weeks from now you are going to pee like you did in your 20's. Post us when you cross over to the other side and do not worry about anything.

I am a new member and I wish you both well. I am scheduled for DeVinci October 11 and I will be looking forward to hearing the good news from you. We will not be able to change our PCa diagnosis nor the outcome of the surgery. However keeping a very positive attitude and enjoying life one day at a time is something we should strive for and is something that I fimly believe will impact our prognosis.

Again my best wishes and may you be on the same path as Pete, coming back each year reporting ZERO PSA's and cheering others for doing well. I am 58 years old and I feel lucky to have already lived about 75% of my life expectancy. I am going to do my best to enjoy whatever is left to make it feel like I lived a centennial!

Mpolo,

Welcome to our club that you didn't want to join voluntarily and I am sure you will find this forum to be full of guys just like you. Many of us faced what you are and have already passed to the other side of PC surgery. I f you have any questions please ask and you will get opinions and advice from the personal experiences of those of us fighting this terrible disease.

Please start a new separate thread so that our very generous members can meet and get to know you better.

UPDATE: It's now only 2 days to go and while I do feel some anxiety, it's not as much as I had anticipated. Don't know how I'll feel tomorrow, but right now the advice and good wishes from all of you have helped tremendously. Thanks!

Hi Frackme,

Just wanted to wish you the best tomorrow with your date with the robot. Today you empty the colon and the prostate and by tomorrow afternoon you will be cancer free and with us on the other side. You get the easy part of the deal tomorrow as you will sleep through it all while your wife and love ones have wait through the whole procedure, my wife sat in the crappy surgery waiting room for over 5 hours.

See you on the other side my brother and hope to meet you at our Spring Southern GFMPH gathering.

Good luck tomorrow, Frack!  It's a tough initiation to get into this fraternity, but there are a lot of great guys here, and although we wish you didn't have to join us, we'll welcome you aboard.  I'll be looking forward to hearing from you in a few days.
