18 Month PSA IN

Have just returned from urologist where I received my 6 Monthly PSA result it has been 18 Month since my RP.

It was 0.03 down from 0.04 which was a relief I have some questions if some member may be able to clarify.

First the urologist said he was very happy with me and if I had any questions for him.

First I asked the urologist how long do I continue with 6 Monthly tests he said 5 years is this normal?

He then said if after 5 years of undetectable PSA they consider this a cure I have never heard this before.

I can only assume that after 5 years they may keep a eye on you with 12 Month PSA test am I right?

He then asked asked about my sex life I replied what sex life since being DX I have lost all interest hopefully

with time the urge will return .

roger / rodger: congrats on the continued zero club membership -
- each doctor has their own routine - my doctor has me at once a year at the 2 year mark - which I believe is the average routine if undetectable....
-the cure rate can be at 5 years undetectable with 10 years being the max -
-wishing you a lifetime of zero's.

Thanks guys.

I am so grateful my PSA was good but I find it hard to celebrate I have a close friend DX at about the same time

with about the same numbers PSA 9 Gleason 7.

But he is not doing so good he is on hormone treatment and about to start radiation so you can understand I feel

awkward telling him about my good news in fact I will try to keep it from him I just feel so bad for him & others that

do not get the results they were hoping for.It is so strange this dreadful PC same number but different out comes.

Congrats on your Zeros.

On not telling your friend, I can understand the why.

However - telling him of your success in beating this PCa crap I think would give him joy for you and at the same time show him it is possible to beat this thang.
