Aloha:
This is Houseboy with a Gleason 9 and 2 bone mets recently irradiated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in Canada and who is on Triple Blockade Hormone Therapy. (See the thread on Oligometastases)
My DXA scan indicates that I have Osteopenia (low bone mass), and my Canadian doctor is prescribing ACLASTA to prevent progress to Osteoporosis as a result of my testosterone depletion. ACLASTA is an annual injection that has been extensively tested and approved in the US, Canada and the UK. It also is supposed to destroy cancer cells in the bone.
Anyone out there who has taken this annual injection? Have you suffered any long term side effects? What about Zometa I/V injections (same active ingredient)?
My concern is that there is a Class Action Suit in Canada against this drug and Fosamax (both have as the active ingredient zoledronic acid). As well, an annual injection does not allow one to counter an adverse reaction by discontinuing the drug right away.
Thanks for your attention.
