AMS 5 week update

after 5 weeks I am 100% dry with normal urinary function .I did have a set back in recovery though. The first 2 weeks went normal. Groin sorness pretty much went away within 2 weeks. I was walking 4 to 5 miles a day. I even considered going back to work early with lifting restrictions still in place.  Thanksgiving week I noticed soreness at incison. Day by day it got a little worse. By the Friday after Thanksgiving it was really bad. I noticed some discharge and a little blood spoting. I put gauze pad in place to monitor this. On Saturday I called hospital to talk to urology resident on call. He said if I did not have a fever and was eating normal to wait untill Monday. On Sunday I noticed some more blood on pad. Called him again and he said same thing. I called my uro first thing Monday and he got me in right away. I was afraid an infection had set in. This was not the case. He had me bend over and removed one of the stitches at most sorest spot.  Pain in a small area was near a 7 on chart. . I was feeling terrible and back on oxycodone which I hate.. Since then day by day it has gotten better. I walked 3 miles this morning and can get in and out of chair normally. I feel I am over the hump. . I will return to work in 10 days. Nothing comes easy. Sorry about the faces, I could'nt resist. This should not be a deterent for anyone considering procedure. Carry On.

Now several weeks have gone by, what is your status? You should be up to your new normal of how things are going to go for now on. I just celebrated my 1st year of relative dryness. It is a blessing to be able to move around fairly normal like I used to. Hope you are able to do the same.

I suppose you are giving a five week after activation day, correct? Not five after surgery? But I wonder about the stitches..Sounds like five after surgery, because they usually do not activate until 6 weeks.. anyway..good luck to you
