OK, not quite willing to weigh and measure, so I came up with a more qualitative scale. The scale is from 0-5, and .5s may be used to indicate a position between scores. If SOL is under copy write, and I do NOT have your permission to use it, please let me know and I will remove it immediately.
The move between scores are not smooth, that is, as the movement from 1-0 is not as significant as the move from 5-4.
Tenpin’s Scale of Urinary Incontinence © 2011
0 - Completely Dry
1 - Occasional Drips, usually unnoticeable at the time (usually only evidence is stain on underwear) (also called SOL – Sub Observable Leak , from Worried Guy)
2 - Occasional Drips (noticeable), can usually be minimized by clinching during high stress movements (sneeze, cough, heavy lift) (usually requiring no more than one pad a day) Fatigue may be a factor, ie late in the day brings more leakage.
3 - Occasional Drips or Squirts, brought on by high stress movements, or low stress movements (yawn, getting up from a chair…) Clinching during stress movements may help, may not. Factors such as fatigue have significant impact. Usually requires changing a pad during the day.
4 - Frequent Drips or Squirts, brought on by low or high stress movements Clinching during high stress movements has limited effect. Requires regular pad changes throughout the day.
5 - Drips, Squirts and dribbles. Minimal Control.
As to me, being three and a half weeks post surgery, I give myself a solid 3, and am happy with that progress to date.
