Latest PSA Result, down this time

Hello all, well just had another PSA test after second negative biopsy (one core with HGPIN and ASAP) coming in at 5.07. Thats down from 5.77 and reversing the upwards trend from the last two PSA readings. I don't have an appointment with my uro yet but I suspect we will have another 4 month wait and then test again and I am good with that. My PSA has risen .90mg in 2 yrs and 8 months with some fluctuations so I am not overly anxious to run for a third biopsy. Just thought I would update as I don't get to post here often. Any thoughts, please share. Thanks.

i would definitely take that as good news for now for sure. it took 3 biopsies, but with a fast rising psa to finaly spot my cancer at the time. if it had been up to me, i would have waited another full year between the second and the third, thank good my uro was wiser than me, and he me do the 3rd one within weeks of the 2nd, and hit pay dirt, with 7 out of 7 cores positive, up to 90% cancer. sounds like you bit the bullet for now, glad for that.

It would be appropriate to calculate your psa density; divide your prostate size in ccs into your psa. If the result is less than 1.5 you're are most likely dealing with BPH or a very low grade cancer. Your biopsy report should give you your prostate size. You should also ask your doctor for a PCA3 urine test as it is more prostate cancer specific than a psa.
