had Brachytherapy on dec15 2011 and every thing has gone well but my mood has been affected and my girl-friend says im distant and vacant.



it has also affected my sex drive!!





Is all this fairly normal

I had seeds in August of 2011 and did not notice them affecting my mood...the whole cancer thing, maybe, but not the seeds alone. Actually, I was glad to have it behind me. I don't think I even tried to have sex for a couple of weeks. When I did it was bloody, felt different and was not really inviting me to have sex with my wife. Six months or so out, everything has pretty much returned to normal. Are you taking any new meds that may be affecting either mood or sex drive?

Distant and vacant could just be because of the whole cancer thing. I felt that way for awhile (still find myself there from time to time) and I didn't have the seeds. It took a bit of effort on my part to move past the PC thing and to keep doing as many, "normal" pre-cancer things as I could. That helped. That and having a couple of good friends I could talk to that I could trust to be honest with me.

And it does affect sex drive. Mine isn't anywhere near what it was before I started treatments. I suspect it will take awhile to recover.

Gary, it is very unlikely that there is any physical reason from the brachytherapy that explains your mood or your sex drive.  Perhaps you are having a reaction to meds or perhaps it's just the whole cancer thing that is getting at your psyche.

Gary,

I did experience a loss of libido and mild ED for several months after treatment. The good news is that this has improved greatly. Not 100%....but pretty close. Give it a little time.

Gary,

I concur with most of the group. My depleted libido was a concern for me, but frankly,  I think it started with my diagnosis which was nearly 18 months prior to treatment. Now, nearly 15 months after treatment, my 'interest' is much better, but not quite what it once was.
