My son is 13. His grandfather had PC diagnosed at 60 years, and his father (me), at 49 years old. His simple question to me started with “Grandpa had this, now you, what does that mean for me?” As I choked back the tears, I explained the risks to him, and that he now is forewarned and that is a good thing, and needs to start checking it early. I also reassure him, that with the rate of medical advances these days, who knows what science holds in 30 years (or more), Maybe a pill that wipes out the cancer, maybe they wave a wand over you like Dr McCoy, or maybe (thanks SHU93 for posting) they go in and do some gene therapy, that cures it forever.
