I'm disappointed to see another thread by a member announcing their departure, in part because they don't like the "contentiousness" of this forum.
I think the moderators here do a fantastic job. I see some spirited debate taking place, which is an aspect of the forum that I enjoy. But to announce that you're leaving (again, in part) because of the tone of the posts implies that the moderators should be doing something different. Whatever that "different" may be implied to mean, I sure hope it doesn't mean more censoring of the more pointed posts. I think if threads are permitted to play out, the members themselves are capable, for the most part, of calling out a poster who is offensive.
I note that the other day a moderator posted that we'd be surprised at who would be baned if the moderators were inclined to ban posters. So, all may not be as it appears on the surface.
Sephie, I'm sorry to see you have decided to discontinue your participation on the forum. But I'm also sorry to see you felt a need to blame your decision, in part, on the "contentiousness" of the forum. I don't see contentiousness as much as I see coddling of some members. But I understand the coddling. The moderators walk a fine line. They can't please everyone all the time.
And goodlife, do you really think the moderators need to clean house? Why? So we'll all be like minded. As I understand it we have the ability to block individual posters.
