does anyone have a good set of directions for trimix? I am picking up the RX tomorrow, but we don't have the instructional appt till April, so thought we should get some good info.

I would avoid "experimenting" until you have had the "instruction" visit. My uro made it very clear that he was not coming to the ER at midnight if I tried a renegade, pre-training shot.

For me the step from .10 to .13 was the difference between a 1 hour 60% woodie, and a 4 hour 15 minute 120% woodie. Be very, very careful.

If you keep the Trimix properly refrigerated and in the dark, it should keep. Mine has a declared 90-day expiration, and worked (too well) 60 days after that.

142 is right for sure. There is a real learning curve with trimix. Unfortunately the amount of erection is not directly proportional to the amount of trimix. What can happen is .05, nothing, .08 a little, .10 almost there, and .14 WHAMMO TOO MUCH. Why that is I don't know. Certainly needle placement must be the reason. Even though you shoot for the 10 or 2 position every time more or less trimix must be going into the corpus cavernosum with each shot. Plus the fact that with time the solution weakens a little, but you really don't know by how much. Try to do the same procedure over and over again to eliminate as many variables as possible. Go for 10 or 2 position, (9 or 3 didn't work for me), always shake the bottle up before filling syringe, roll the syringe between your hands to warm up the trimix, once injected, massage woodie while maintaining pressure on injection site to minimize scarring from bleeding but get the trimix flowing everywhere, adjust a little more as solution ages, and keep a good supply of behind the counter sudafed in your house to bring down woodie if after an hour you see things aren't fading out.......

Susan – I agree with the previous posters about “experimenting” and being careful with the dosage.   I’m seeing an ED specialist and when I started injecting I had 2 instructional appointments on consecutive days.   The first day he gave me the injection (5 units) and the second day I did the injection (10 units) under his supervision.   Only then did I get the prescript ion.   I was instructed to use 7 units for my first injection at home.   Then I went up to 8, then 10, 11, 15, 18, and I’ve settled on 20 units.   This was a gradual process, checking in by phone with the NP after each try initially; then once a week.   It took over a month to get to the right dose for me.   I am still under strict instructions not to increase the dose with out talking to the NP or the doctor first.        A few other points: You have to wait 24 hours before injecting again. Do not take Viagra or Levitra 18 hours before or after an injection You should not use Cialis; it’s not recommended when using Trimix. Only inject 2 to 3 times a week. You should switch sides every time. If he has pain in the penis (not from the needle), ask about Bimix.   Priapism: My instructions for an erection lasting 2 hours , are to take four 30mg tablets of plain Sudafed (not the XL Sudafed).   If it’s still up at 3 hours - call the doctor.   And at 4 hours, I’m supposed to be in the ER.   Ask about a wallet card in case you have to go to the ER.   Hope this helps.   Good luck.

So any suggestions on an auto injector? I picked up the trimix and the syringes today 31 gauge. The URO is starting him off at .2 dosage Low,huh?

31 gauge is delicate. It will hurt a lot less, but my uro says it could be broken easily, so utmost caution with it. Is the uro doing the .2 in office? The first trial needs to be under supervision. At .2 I would be in the ER.

My uro says no to the auto-injector. Long story - I asked, but he is dead-set against it. I'm still dealing with the standard 30 gauge, and that was not his choice.

(added - he prescribed 27ga, but the pharmacy suggests 30ga)

If that’s .2cc – that’s a large dose to start on! That equates to 20 units. I started on 0.05cc and worked my way up to 0.20cc … gradually like I said in my post above. If you want to compare strength of medicine, my Rx is PAPV 30MG/PHENTLMN 1MG/PE-1 10MCG/ML.

Btw, I use a 29 gage needle, like 142 said, smaller ones are prone to bend or break (the larger the number, the thinner the needle) I've never used an auto-injector.

I agree with Tigerfan, if thats 0.2 cc it does seem like a bit much to start with.  Some guys are more sensitive to this stuff than others.  I was started at 0.1 cc and that was way too much.  Settled in at 0.02 - 0.03 cc (2 - 3 units).  FYI - Usually each mark on the syringe is one "unit".  1cc = 1ml = 100 units. Don't get units and cc's mixed up!

I use PAPV 30MG/PHENTLMN 0.2MG/PE-1 10MCG/ML; a 31 gauge needle - /5/16 inch long (although I have used 30 gauge needles - 1/2 inch long).  I do not use an injector but know guys who swear by them.
