I see a number of folks are in THAT phase right now.

I thought I'd start this thread.

I'll be doing my PSA this week if I feel up to it (recovering from gall bladder surgery) and get the results on Monday

Six months mark after surgery. Just got the results back and am still undetectable. Man, it's still a roller coaster for each PSA test.

Uro moved me from every three months test to every four, instead of six. The "indeterminate" has me prepared for radiation, but so far so good.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see. But for now, life is good.

Had my PSA retested today (3 years) and it came back as <.01.

I'm getting monthly tests after SRT/HT. Feb 6th test came back at < .01. All good for now.

I congratulate all of you on your great news.

And as weird as it may seem or as hard as it may be for you to accept, I am just as farkin' ecstatic that my PSA only went up 3.69 points in the last 6 months.

I was really expecting a rise of somewhere between 8 and 12 points.

I'm buying the beer for the first round at GFMPH

My husband CJ had blood drawn this morning and results were just phoned in. Came in as stable again at .02 this time. This was the big 5 year one. Very relieved this end.  PSA for last 3 years has been .03 so still in the clear 'down under'. Good luck to those still awaiting news. Lana

Paul will get his 18 month result this week. My stomach is in knots.

Lana and CJ, a big congratulations!! 5 years is a big milestone and the result is great!

Ed I have been reading your posts and was so happy to hear that your results returned to <0.01.

Sonny, I am happy that your results are better than you thought they would be. All the more reason to enjoy your 29th anniversary with your wife.

Well, once again another kick in the gut PSA result.

It moved from 1.97 2 months ago to 3.43.

This is not good at all.

My doubling time remains 3 months, perhaps even less.

There is one thing: I did the PSA 5 days after having gall bladder surgery. I'm not sure if that influences the PSA. I doubt it (I have no prostate to inflame). But, I'll ask.

Next step: consultations with Dr. Hussain at Umich on 3/5 and Dr. Lam on 3/7 via telephone. Unless they say the surgery might have impacted things and to check again in a month, it looks like I'll be starting HT very shortly.

On the positive side, I saw my surgeon today (actually, his PA). They removed the bandages from the gall bladder surgery. There are self-dissolving stiches.

Everything looks good. The pathology report was gross: words like gangarenous, necrotizing, etc. But also no evidence of malignancy. I didn't expect PC in that area, but of course it is nice to know for sure.

Still...BUMMER

Mel, not a good reading for sure. Looks for sure that you are on Sonny's and my pathway, just further distance back at this point. I doubt your recent surgery would have any remote effect on your latest PSA reading.

Guess if you are still wanting to start HT, you are getting more of a reason to do so at this point. Recurrance is no fun, not once one has passed through the rigors of surgery and radiation both.

meant it in the context, that it is still your choice, to move ahead, or choose to wait. certainly isn't being forced, though may be heavily advised.

Unless doing the PSA right after gb surgery skews the results (very doubtful), I suspect both the experts I consult with will advise me to do the HT.

We will know next week.

Remember, I posted my frustration about all my medical appointments?

Well, saw the surgeon today.

Tomorrow I get a complete eye exam (hopefully ending with a clean bill of health on an eye issue).

Thursday I have a dental appointment.

Monday I see Dr. Hussain.

Wednesday it's Dr. Lam.

Then it will probably be HT which means I'll be seeing my urologist to get the shot, perhaps after 7-10 days on Casodex

Mel, I am sorry to hear this news.  I am sure you'll have more answers next week.  Ron had his gall bladder taken out three years ago and he had to make changes in his eating habits.  Eating the wrong foods still causes stomach discomfort.  You don't need this with all you have to deal with.  I hope the doctors can give you the information you need to battle the monster that PCa is.  Good luck with your eye exam, too.
