TFT Update 4 years after.

It's been 4 years since my 3D saturation mapping biopsy which I use as start date of my treatment. Last year I went from semiannual to annual checkups. All is still fine as
my last three PSA'a have been :

.22- 8/2010
.15 -3/2011
.14 -2/2012

I have a functioning prostate, no side effects other than maybe a 60% loss of ejaculant volume. In
fact my worse PCa ordeal other than initial anxiety was a total of 5 days with a catheter back in 2008.

ziggy, my friend, what a great report. and you are the poster child perfecto for your treatment method. my miserable life these days is directly the results of conventional PC treatments going way wrong.

i think other new guys with good numbers, should at least investigate how you were treated.

hope you get many more years like these.

Dave we are both poster children for different extremes here. I have second thoughts about posting my treatment outcome here when so many like yourself are fighting advanced PCa. But I can't let an anniversary go by without mentioning the revolutionary treatment with a far better result than I ever thought possible back in November 2007. I'm somewhat surprised more here don't investigate TFT before going under radical treatments. In addition less invasive treatments be it TFT or something newer are a prime reason that low risk PCa men should consider AS to hopefully let them develop or in case of TFT become more widely available. Here's hoping we both get many more years.

think you are looking it at it the wrong way. it's just as important here at HW, for good news reports, along with the plentiful bad news reports.

while you are in an extreme minority as far as primary treatment methods go, its still a viable choice for some. and it should be discussed, and if it gave you these great results with miniman side effects, thats important to tell as well.

i am a poster boy on two fronts, lol

1 - never had srt done to an empty bladder

2 - for the doctors that realize and believe in the theory that extreme PSA velocity in the year prior to dx is very lethal, my PC journey is doing just what has been predicted in that school of thought. the cancer is very agressive, despite any stats, and the likelihood of death from PC is as much as 10 higher for guys like me, regardless of any primary or secondary treatment. so far, my journey is going exactly the way my urologist had predicted at the start. my oncologist is of the same school of thought about my current condition and not so good prognosis. but hey, it is what it is.

you have done well, and you should be proud. i am happy for you, sincerely, and for every other guy that seems to be beating the beast.

ziggy, congratulations on reaching a 4 year milestone. It don't matter what vehicle we take to get there, it's the arriving at the destination that counts. Glad you got there, and wish you many more checkpoints in the future.

Ziggy, congrats. You took the path less traveled and found the pot of gold! TFT is so intuitive for early stage PCa that I really hope it becomes more widespread.

Thanks guys although the medical staff at the University of Colorado deserves the real congratulations, I was just lucky in my timing and geography. Dave it's tragic being a poster boy for your #1. Isn't there a malpractice lawsuit still pending on that? You deserve a huge settlement IMHO that was an inexcusable error on their part. Thanks James I'm happy to be here and wish there were more on the vehicle I took. Although I'm not alone here as there is another who posts and had the same TFT I did. I also have an acquaintance I turned on to TFT and he's now waiting for his 3D biopsy results. I hope it becomes a common treatment Jim. With the success rate they have built up out here I'm surprised it hasn't. Although I'm sure some who are TFT eligible may opt for AS in the future too. Like I keep saying if you told me back in those dark days in 2007 when my first urologist was telling me radical treatment or death in 7 years, I would've never had ever dreamt of this outcome. That's why I always tell those with low numbers take your time and educate yourself on all treatments and possible side effects. Also as an old timer said here long ago. MD does not stand for medical deity. Thus be your own advocate and question and verify all medical opinions given to you. If I hadn't I would have been on an operating table December 2007 battling who knows what severity of side effects and loss of quality of life. I suspect my first urologist isn't half the doctor my current one is who is also the director of research of Urologic Oncology at the hospital.
