"My Doctor" is the worst doctor i ever had. he will not tell you the results of a test unless you make an appointment to come in and pay him to tell you you are or or not.

he want to do biopsies whether you need it or not. if you have pc why do another biopsy other than to make money for him.

he makes you wait for results and won't tell you unless you come in for an appointment.

he will make you worry until then. he doesn't care how far away you live. he wants the money.

he has no compassion in my opinion and i would never go to him again. dr katz was the best and he left this urology practice and the other best doctors retired. look up doctor katz in ny.

Fun to be the pawn and cash cow for some....what you do is fire him yesterday (lol) and find someone whom is not a soup n_zi type.  I got 8 opinions in my own case, I saw lairs, agendas, biases and a few excellent docs too.  Based on my small sampling (lol), this is like the real world of PCa.  Dr. Strum mentioned to us all that maybe 10-15% of the docs are 'expert' worthy, 70-75% are average and 10-15% are dangerous....since he is one of the most experienced 'ever' in PCa and a smart one...I believe his generalization.  I did find docs that are my kind docs, so maybe you can too.

Good luck it is a blanking jungle out there, hope you don't ever face HT therapies, that is another fun program.

Here Here. Sounds like a firing in the making. There are so many compassionate and attentive doctors out there. Find one that works for and with you.

My Uro has been fantastic as a compassionate and informative doctor for me, though I was not comfortable with him doing my RP. He was not happy with my choice, but I told him I really wanted to do my long term care with him and he became comfortable with this combination of care. Find one that works the way YOU want.

If you don't want to wait for results from the doc, you don't have to. You have total control of this. Get the results directly from the lab. You don't get interpretation, but you can get the numbers the next day.

I have gotten a copy of EVERY piece of my records on this horrid disease. Every diagnostic visit, the pathology, the surgical notes, all the way back to my annual physical that detected it all. I have scanned them and stored in a PDF as well as on paper. If ever talk with a medical professional who wants my records I can give them to them immediately, not having to wait for the multitude of doctors to all fax them. Whenever I get a test, I sign a release that says they can give me the results over the phone. The release they have me sign (a standard form they have all had) requires assiging a 4 digit PIN code so they can very my authenticity over the phone. All part of HIPAA. For CT scan the facility told me to come back the next day and they'd have a CD for me. For my MRI, I just waited 30 minutes afterwards and they handed me the MRI then faxed me the radiologists interpretation the next day.

As a friend who has dealt with cancer told me "you must be your own quarterback, no-one is going to do that for you". You can take complete control.

I would not go to a Dr that does not share results. Ours gives us a copy of every thing without asking. When it comes to something serious, my urologist and cancer dr told me about websites to read and come back to ask questions, if need be.

And gasoline (petrol for some of our friends out there) is $3.64 tonight in my town, up 24 cents in 5 days.

It is all about the money in today's world. I would be more interested if we discussed the treatment value (not costs) of tests and results, and some face time with the doc.

I think it is especially difficult if you have limited insurance or live quite a distance away.  Maybe Dr. Katz can recommend someone else should you need surgery or other treatments?  Good luck!
