Pain -- is it PC?

I just have to smile -- isn't this another wonderful aspect of PC?

Shortly after my gall bladder surgery, I started getting lower/neck and upper/back pain.

It got fairly severe and appeared to be centered right in the middle in the bone area. Needless to say, in the BACK of my mind, there was this little bitty fear and you all know what I'm talking about.

Logic told me that it was due to the positioning during surgery or sleeping in a bad position in the hospital or just sitting around too much or...whatever.

But, nevertheless, there was that little concern.

It is now much improved so that fear is just about gone.

Nevertheless, I bet we all walk in those shoes!

Use logic with those kinds of pain. Look at your PSA number. Consider that you have no evidence of mets. Since you didn't have any pain issues with your primary and secondary treatments per say, can't be that. So logic says, highly unlikely that any pain you describe is remotely PC related.

I wish I had a way to package up the part of my mind that allows me not to have any testing or PSA anxiety. I have that 100% undercontrol in my life. I don't sweat my present number (14.0 and climbing), and I have no concerns about my next test (in a few weeks, don't even know the date). This is easy to say, but harder to accept in ones mind, but worrying about something that either hasn't happened, or might not ever happen, is totally counterproductive. Worrying about things that you can't change, is always a waste of physical and emotional energy.

In my reply, I was generalizing, not really being specific. In your particular case, I would think that you are having post-gall bladder surgery woes, as that was a pretty extreme case of gall bladder surgery, etc. Hopefully that will fade in time.

As for you adage, never heard that one before, and if it were a hint, it doessnt apply to me. I mean what I say literally about PSA and test anixety in my own personal life. I don't say it to feel good, I mean it. With my failed surgery/srt, I can either force a treatment at this point (against my doctor's advice), or I just sit tight with him, and we wait and watch. That's good enough for me. If it weren't for the 24/7 hour torment of chronic pain/faitgue (all the result of PC treatments), I think I could almost forget that I had active cancer in my body. I know this method wouldn't work for everyone, and some people, unfortunately, will find a way to worry about any number of things. I have always been the same way about money. If I have it, I enjoy it, and spend it. If I don't have it, and I have done all I can to make some, then I don't worry about not having money. Guess my point is, I am not prone to worry about things. Life goes on with or without my consent or agreement. It, truly, does happen.
