Hello all,
I have been following most people's posts and am always curious to see what the "numbers" are in their signature, and also what courses of action were taken by members of the forum. This is not a ghoulish preoccupation, but merely at attempt to get a basic understanding of what others have done in similar circumstances to my husband's.
However, I do have a question that perhaps some of you might shed some light on. It's had me wondering for some time now. I hope I can word it properly to get my meaning across.
If a person, for example, has a 12 core biopsy and only one, or a couple of the cores come out positive, let's say with a Gleason 4+5=9, but all the rest are negative, or have a much lower Gleason score, what determines the final "score" for this person? Is it the highest Gleason, even if it's only in one or two cores, or is an "average" or "mean/median" result across all the cores assigned?
On a more personal note, we are now on the countdown for High Dose Brachytherapy which is due to start on the 1st May in Brisbane (Australia). My husband has been doing lots and lots of Kegel exercises, and going to the gym daily to try to maintain fitness. Luckily, except for ED, he has had no ill effects from the Hormone therapy which he has been taking since December - in fact, no side effects at all really. I should be thankful for this, but instead I am worried that the lack of side effects might indicate that the Hormone therapy is not being effective.
Following the Brachytherapy, there is a brief respite of just over a week which hopefully we can come home for , and then back again to Brisbane for 23 sessions of External Beam radiation.
Cheers to you all, and for those of you who celebrate Easter, I hope the coming few days are good ones.
