GFMPH is getting real close. I haven't driven to Baton Rouge since last April, in fact I haven't driven a trip more than a couple hundred miles since then. So I thought I needed to get into shape and test my stamina for the trip.
Probably not one of my brighter decisions.
Monday I flew to NYC to see my son (very briefly as it turned out) and retrieve his car. The parking tickets and tow charges he (and his friends) has amassed since he went up there last June are almost worth more than the car.
He has decided to sell the car so I figured I would help him out and sell it here in Florida for him. Besides there is no telling how many more parking tickets he would get while trying to sell the car.
I landed at La Guardia at 3:30pm, arrived at his apartment building at 4:45pm and was on the road with the car at 9:30pm. 1100 miles. A couple of short naps at rest stops, a couple of gas stops and a couple of breaks and I arrived back here in Orlando at 8pm last night.
I am now officially ready for the 700 mile drive to Baton Rouge. Or at least I will be in two weeks after my body heals from the trip. I am spoiled by driving a 40' motorhome, a full size pickup and a Equinox. Driving that "LITTLE" 2 door Toyota Echo Coupe (manual transmission) was a whole nother story. That little thing beat the crap out of me, the wind from the passing trucks caused me great concern more than once and I could never quite get my 6'1" frame really comfortable.
Probably a good thing I don't have a prostate any more. The thing would most likely not work for at least a month after this trip.
On the bright side I am ready for GFMPH. And that little sucker averaged 40 MPG for the entire trip.
The shock will be watching my 100 gallon diesel (insert the per gallon cost of diesel here) MH tank empty at an alarming rate when you factor in 8-10 mpg on my drive to Baton Rouge.
So stamina will not be a problem, driving will not be a problem and I am looking towards GFMPH with the greatest of anticipation.

Wait one minute since the Toyota Echo has 2 squirrel drives under the hood shouldn't you have figured how many "walnuts" per miles instead of gallons, unless you liquefied the walnuts?
ONLY 15 MORE DAYS TO GFMPH FOR ME,
AS I
GET THERE ON
