4 weeks down and 5 to go with Dattoli Radiation

So far so good. Not many side affects. Hormones give me some occasional hotflash.
I do hope this is a cure but with 18 months more to go guess it wb 2 years waiting.

Dattoli staff is excellent.

Have another Cather ultrasound to verify radiation is hitting the right spots.

Snook fishing is great off if Venice jetty.

Hope things remain uneventful for you. Half way-mark is this week!

Glad to hear that the staff members are good. That helped me a lot with the day-to-day grind of it all.

I started HT the first day I saw Sorace which was 5 weeks before I started radiation. I get shot of Elegard quarterly and take Avodart and Bicalutamide daily. I will be on these Hormones for a total of 18 to 24 months.
I have 45 radiation sessions and about 25 left. No real side affects except for
Urgency and complete ED.

Trying for a cure as surgery did not get it all. I just hope the 2 year sacrifice pays off for future years of life.

Full pelvic.  I have 1 suspicious node and residue left in the Prostate bed.  Having a nice hot flash right now....but hopefully all for the good.  I researched this for 400 hours before I went this route.  My only hope for eradication.

 

You and I are following a similar path jliggett....On my own, I had a PSA test done by my family doctor when I finished the radiation. It was <0.1, undetectable, and it has been there for 18 months..

After a while, the HT can start to wear you down..And after you have been on it for 2 years, recovering from it becomes more unlikely, the effects become more or less permanent..

Recent studies have shown that just one year works almost as good as two years and recovering from a one year HT treatment is much easier. My R.O. relented and took me off HT at 16 months. So if you get a good PSA response to the treatment I would at least ask Dattoli about letting you off a little early...It's all a balance of quality of life degradation and benefit received from the longer treatment.
