I went to my first public group meeting

This tuesday I went to my first public group meeting for PC surviors or as my wife says "cancer victims". I walked in the room and there was five men who all look like they may be in there mid 60s to 70 years old.I felt like they gave me this suspicious look as if I was there for the free coffee and doughnuts,which there were NONE.


They had two people,I think one was a doctor talking about clincal trials.The meeting went for about a hour and then the speakers left.The social worker who was running the meeting stood up and looked at me and said that it is custom for the newbie to introduce them selfs.Next thing I know eveyone stood up and basically surrounded me and started to question me like, what brings me here, what treatments have I gone through,etc...



I felt I belonged here, but next time they better have doughnuts!

We have a lot more than coffee and doughnuts at our public gatherings known as GFMPH. You need to come to NY in September!!

Yes, glad you found that group. It's important---but don't miss GFMPH in Rochester

in Sept.  My wife and I attended last April and we will never miss another, God willing.

I participate in 4 groups (not all are monthly meetings), and can assure you that the new guys are (almost) always gunshy. And yes, we put them on the spot, although we do talk to them before we do it just in case they really don't want to do that
