When they "take out" the catheter, they first drain the balloon that is holding it in, by snipping off the fill cap (the Y on the tube). Mine just literally fell out without so much as a flinch. It was on the floor before I knew what was going on. No significant pulling involved unless there is some sort of problem.
It will possibly be a mess, so dress accordingly.

I just came back and the nurse took the catheter out.Wasn't bad.First she took the bag off and then filled the bladder with I think a saline water untill I needed to urinate.I did but dribbling and not a stream.Urine was clear late this morning but bloody again probably die to taking out the catheter.
I saw the doctor and he said he wasn't going to put the catheter back.He said he took 33 samples which causes swelling along with having an enlarged prostate cause the issue. He gave me a pill called Rapaflo which he says should help the stream.I hope the stream improves soon and the burning stops.I'm also on Levofloxin and I got a shot of another antibiotic today too because I had a low grade fever last night..
I have a pennicillin and sulphur allergy.
I had a catheter issue this morning that I didn't have yesterday.Feeling like I had to go bad a few times while the catheter was in.I think he called that a bladder spasm.
