Free copy of "Surviving Prostate Cancer" by Walsh available

For what it is worth I have the 2nd edition, and still use it as a reference from time to time, I chose the robot even though Walsh didn't embrace the procedure. I used the book as a tool to help pre surgery and for information post surgery. Hopkins and Brady institute were pioneers in prostate research, maybe it is a bit dated but Partin tables from the book are still used today. My urologist recommended the book after my diagnosis Gleason 7.

For those interested, I will give a full review of the 3rd Edition of Walsh's book in a few days, making sure I highlight the updated portions. And yes, at the time of the publication of the 2nd edition, robotic surgery was still the "new" kid on the block, I would expect more coverage and encouragement of it's use in the newest edition. No one book can possibly cover every aspect of our disease. Most of us have owned and/or read several of the leading titles.

P.S. 142, the post - jab - then delete trick happens often with some posters, it's a nice way to get a cheap shot in there without getting nailed by a moderator. still manages to do the same damage, but the poster seems to get away with it.

also, i get a kick out of those that think there is a reign of censorship here at HW PC. You should go to some of ther other groups here at HW, the mods at those communities run a tight hand, and wouldn't allow 1/4 of the stuff that is allowed here. i think the balance is about perfect here, moderators doing a good job with difficult situations sometimes.

for the record: the book is still available. perhaps in the next crop of new guys, someone can mention that it is still availabe and can point them to this thread.

If we locked every thread that strayed a bit from the original post, we would lock most of the threads. Your not so veiled threat to lock this thread is so uncalled for.

You don't need "permission" from David to lock the thread, but use a little common sense.

Hey, at least we are still talking about the Walsh book. Speaking of which:

It is certainly acknowledged to be a classic. It was the first book I read and I found it to be chock full of information, something this newbie needed.

I am sure the second edition is greatly outdated as there have been so many new developments.

I will be looking forward to David's review of the newer edition.

The issue was a month ago, perhaps a day more. We have a member who posted a vicious and grossly offensive comment, then deleted it. However, it was up long enough for several members to email me with the content. The request to lock came from the forum. If you are looking at it today, you are without the context that provoked the comments.
