Provenge Ads on HW

I do not see ad's - I do see two smallish "Advertisement" texts in the upper right hand. Never have actually clicked on either one.

I expect HW needs to have some sort of income flow just to keep the doors open.

It's also very likely that HW isn't really selecting the ads. A web site can make a few dollars with things like google ad sense or Amazon ads. Basically HW places a box where the advertiser can place their ad and it's up to the advertiser what to post. Many then use a scanner to look at the web page content and post an ad that the algorithm predicts will get the most clicks. Also if you use google or Amazon and have history with either service (or are logged into one of the services at the same time you visit HW) you'll get ads customized to you.

Each visitor will see different ads but since this is a site with a narrow purpose many visitors will see the same ads. I am currently getting a few word ads for power tools, hair restoration, and a book on ED.

but it's not surprising that some may be seeing the Provenge ads (I see them once in awhile).

Here's how it works. To pay the bills, Peter grants ad space to internet marketing companies. They own the banner space and solicit various companies to buy ad space. The company that owns the ad space can "target" the various boards we have here with customized ads that best fit the ad space.

Dendreon is on a huge marketing spree and you'll see them frequently in the banners. HW does not receive money from these guys but they do receive money from the Ad space people. This pays for this sites existence.
