Ht- Cure for male pattern baldness???

 I'm 4 months in now (Casodex and Lupron) and my wife swears that i am growing hair on my head (the scalp having long been berift of hair  in the typical "U" pattern lo these many years)

I initially dismissed the idea but am now beginning to agree with her. The SEs of HT listed hair LOSS, not hair growth, but per chance have we stumbled onto a cure for male pattern baldness. If we have, you now are left with the ultimate cruel irony - you can get more women with a full head of hair, but you can't do anything about it!!!!!!

Seriously, any HT guys actuallly grow head hair????

My experience is somewhat similar. My bald area never completely went away but it filled in enough I decided to let my hair grow longer and start parting my hair again. I got tons of compliments from friends. (Of course, chemo took care of all that hair. cry )

My rough explanation: If you have a propensity to male pattern baldness, DHT triggers the hair loss. DHT is a by-product of testosterone. Lower T translates to lower DHT, hence less "baldness". Proscar (Finasteride) is sold as a treatment for baldness. Avodart (Dutasteride) has also been investigated as a treatment for baldness. Avodart is sometimes the third leg in ADT3 and inhibits converstion of testosterone into DHT.

Are you also taking Proscar or Finisteride? These will definately grow hair.

The hair loss that is mentioned as a side effect of HT is body hair.

Funny, my wife was just saying today I seem to have more hair (on my head).

I never took Proscar (Finasteride) or Avodart (Dutasteride)

My hair grew back, some, without the use of Proscar or Avodart.

Eunuchs (done before puberty for various cultural reasons in days of old) do not go bald so the slight reversing of male baldness may well be associated with the suppression of testosterone.

Thanks for the responses.  No I have not been taking proscar or avodart.

No loss of body hair yet.

Absolutely true. Testosterone is responsible for male pattern baldness. It's also responsible for our body hair color and thickness. When on HT I had way less body hair and my hair on my head was slightly thicker. My wife has noticed that both reversed when HT stopped and T levels rose. In addition, Propecia is a drug marketed for hair growth for male pattern baldness. Propecia and Proscar are both finesteride just different doses...
