Day 2 After Surgery

Water, walking and watching tv. Been a little *****y with my wife. No need to be, she has been a saint as all the wives are with us.

Now I know what childbirth feels like.

Can't seem to get comfortable sitting. I usually sit on a bed pillow.

Woke up a couple of times last night. Thanks to all who suggested the bucket for the catheter. I must not have locked it once in the middle of the night after emptying it. It did leak but NOT on the hotel carpet.

It has been a challenge finding something decent to eat. Most of what is on the diet sucks. I find myself watching the Food Channel
and dreaming of coming weeks. But the good news is there will be coming weeks and years because we caught the cancer in time.

I was sitting in the waiting room before surgery Tuesday morning talking to another patent who was having his surgery after mine. When they called my name, I said, "Let's kick some prostate cancer's a## today". The next day we shook each others hands and smiled.

Eveyone at my work, my wife's work and our families have been great.

I am so glad to have found HW 2 weeks before surgery. Although we come from different worlds, we all have this oneness between us.

Hang in there; it gets a lot better after a few days.

Welcome to the other side. You'll keep getting better each day. Lots of water and walking. Soon you'll have that catheter out and feel pretty darned good.

As was mentioned, Kegels do not go with cath tubes, but the day the cath comes out, have at it.

There is no room to snipe at anyone - wife, nurses, the whole crew are there to help. I was happy to have anyone around who cared if I lived or died (am single, no kids), so would not have complained lest I drove off the last person who might pretend to care.

I was on a limited diet the morning after surgery, but by lunch was on a regular meal tray. The doc's philosophy was eat healthy, and the rest will follow in good time. It did, and before I left the hospital (mind you I was kept for 4 nights due to pain & really ugly nausea and balance problems due to a reaction to drugs used, never did find out exactly which were the problem).

And Expectations - leave those in the book. Heal first.

Great news... now just take your time and do what the Doctors tell you to do and everything will get better with each day! Jeff
