starting mdv3100:)

Well we went to the doctor today had blood work and ekg all turned out good for the clinical trials yay!!!! we will start taking the pills at 10 am tomorrow morning :)Looking forward to sharing our experience and results with you all :) Slim(my husband) will have to have a colonoscopy when we go back because of the throwing up he does with out much warning :( I am sure all will be well with that .
they did inform slim that this study is for the future of others who have prostate cancer and that this is in no way shape or form a cure for his cancer ( i think they say that to all in the trials I hope)but that what he is doing may save thousands of lives and I think that part has become the reason for him to go through with the trial i am proud of him and all that are going through this trial and pray and wish all of you the best of luck :)

What a relief to be doing something, even if it isn't the end all. Hoping that Slim can find some relief, and not have a bunch of side effects.

I do not have to write down when he takes them but keep track of any SEs he has that he didnt experience before or if they are worse.. yes we have to take the pill bottle back when we go on the 20th of August :)
We are also looking for this to give him more time ...just thought it was weird to have something negative said instead of something positive .... It kinda made me mad because i would not of wanted my husband to have any negative thoughts at this time I believe the more positive they would of been the more positive he would of been now he's not to sure and he really didn't like the size of the pills he had a little bit of a struggle getting them down but he did it my fear is from experience with him and large pills is he will quit them before he finishes the study :( any one got any tricks to make the larger pills down these are gel caps and can not be cut in half you cant even touch them with your bare hands:/ any ideas are appreciated

I do hope the medication buys you quality time and the chance at whatever is now in the works. One day at a time, eh?

As for large pills, they can be very difficult, esp when you cannot touch them.

My suggestion is to call the drug company pharmacist and see if they have any ideas to help you. Could the contents of the capsules be poured onto something edible/potable?

When my darling Willie was on humongous pills, I had to drive thEm bacl to the supplier so that they could be cut exactly in half, using a special ventilation hood. A small price to pay,IMO.

I do hope you find a solution that is suitable.

As far as swallowing pills go, I take a calcium/vitamin D supplement that seems like a horse pill. I pop it in my mouth and start drinking water and don't stop drinking until I have swallowed. Also, if you Google the topic, you will find a lot of pages with tips and recommendations on swallowing pills.
