good news on colonoscopy

My doctor emailed the lab results for my recent colonoscopy - everything is normal and the polyp sample was negative for anything bad. I've been told to have another colonoscopy in 10 years.

My next medical challenge is in two weeks when I go in to have a hernia repair.

This has been a challenging year for my health - started off with PC and now all this other stuff. Well I'll end the year with a PSA test in December - hoping that will signal that I'll be perfectly health next year.

Andrew, my friend, congratulations on that. One less thing to ever worry about for a long, long time. Meanwhile, they are still trying to figure out a safe way for me to have my first one, no answer yet, the radiation damage makes it risky the conventional way. Glad you got the all clear on that

Congrats on getting through the colonoscopy with a 10-year clean bill of health. That's huge!

Hernia surgery is a drag, but you'll get through it and next year you'll be fabulous again. Hang in there and keep your sense of humor.

- glad to hear the news on the colonoscopy - and the 10 year window - very very good -
-sorry to hear about the hernia - there seems to be a good number of HW guys having to go under the knife again - was it a pre-existing condition or another SE from PCa treatment?
-regardless, wishing you an uneventful surgery and a steady and boring recovery
- you will have to play the GFMPH card and turn it into GFMHC and get the grandkids to do all the chores around the house.
(oh yes, no lifting for a while - even in the shop - from my experience with dealing with my Dad's 5 hernia operations)

Always nice to get a good report...I'm glad you did. I had a hernia operation last November. The worst thing for me was having trouble peeing after the operation and a day or so afterward. I doubled my dose of Flomax and that helped a lot.

Thanks for all the comments. The hernia is likely a pre-existing thing. My father had one at about the same age I am now. Right now I am not suppose to lift over 10 lbs and will be restricted for about 4 weeks after surgery.

I have been working on smaller projects in my shop - I've been getting into marquetry and scroll sawing. A lot lighter stuff than the bookcases and cabinets I was making. Had to tell my wife that building the new deck will have either wait for next spring or we'll have to hire someone.

I am a bit stunned at the moment.

The surgeon's office just called - they've had a cancellation and have an opening this Thursday. I said yes so I'll be in surgery this week. Two weeks sooner than I planned.

Guess it's a good thing to get it done now.

I am recovering from hernia surgery, 3 weeks now. Radiation Doc said it was best to do before my radiation. It was done open fashion and I did experience local pain at the site for the first 2 days. Like you, there was an opening so I went for it to get it over with. Good luck to you. Sure all will be ok and pass without a problem.
