Megestrol (Megace) is a hormone therapy used for women to stimulate appetite that has been suppressed by chemotherapy. I understand it is effective in men to reduce some of the side effects of ADT such as hot flashes. Trouble is that it stimulates the appetite and most men on ADT have a ravenous appetite and gain weight because of the ADT. My docs suggested it, but I decided not to use it and have managed the hotflashes in other ways. This is the first I have heard about using Tamoxifen for ADT side effects.
