0.2! Woohoo! I'm in the exam room now and the nurse just told me. I can hear the doctor in the room next door. He's running late as usual. I have some urinary issues that concern me. Gotta go.

thanx guys.  i'm at home now.  the urinary issue i'm having is burning, slightly more frequency and about once a week or so i see a couple drops of blood, usually dry and stringy.  i recently had my GP check for UTI but the culture came back clean.

today my uro said the burning and blood are side effects of BT.  he said it could go away on its own or maybe never go away and he doesn't recommend treatment unless i am having alot of discomfort (i'm not).  so we'll revisit the urinary stuff in six months at my next visit.  the doctor also said two more years of six months visits and if my PSA holds we'll switch to a year.

so it looks like i'm going to make it out of 2012 alive cool !

he also gave me a 3-month supply of cialis (90, 5mg pills) and a prescription so i can get another free month's worth from a promotion by Lilly cool .

You hit the jackpot - good numbers and about $600 worth of Cialis (retail).

I have the same bleeding issue. When bad, a 10-15 day cycle. When  better, 45-50 days. Same story, radiation damage, not much to do except laser cauterization, and that actually makes it worse long term. Maybe bariatic chamber, high cost, low result. Really strange to get to the point that you almost can't pee, then blow out a clot the size of a quarter, but don't think anything of it, unless like my last one, it was at the home of my boss, and I painted the wall with it. Ugly. He now knows enough to get his PSA tested at 40 (yeah, we all work for kids these days), whether he wants to or not. Wasn't an education he wanted, but there was beer, and things improved.

142 -- is there anything we can do to lessen the symptoms -- e.g., cranberry juice?  could you point me too a thread or article that discusses the symptoms and treatments?  thanks.

the weird thing is although i expected bad news i had little to no anxiety this time around.  I usually have waves crashing in my ears right before i hear my PSA but this time i actually asked the nurse for my lab results before i talked to the doctor.

last weekend i even bought a new car and i remember when i was so sure i was going to die that i couldn't even buy a pair of socks.  at the dealership i asked my wife if i should wait until i see my doctor before i bought the car and she quickly nixed that idea cool .

Friend of mine had the same bleeding, only more copious than yours or 142's, 2 years after SRT. Poor guy had the laser fusion, then catheter for 3 months, finally got it healed with 40 one hour daily treatments in the high pressure oxygen chamber for cell saturation. He spent a total of 5 months on a catheter. Says he dreads each time he goes to pee, expecting it to start up again. Just one more reason why I am not so eager to get into SRT nowadays. confused smilewinkgrin

thanx for the info James.  was he in alot of pain?  my condition isn't bad but i know it can get worse.  i'm going to start looking into what i can do to help.

i have a friend who was just diagnosed with advanced bladder cancer.  as soon as he finishes chemo they're going to remove his bladder and prostate.  of course this was weighing heavily on my mind when i started seeing blood.

Doc said the bleeding was from BT and not IGRT though...correct?

correct.  i think i will schedule a visit with my radiation oncologist today to get some clarity on the issue.

Great numbers Ed. I hope you will celebrate with at least one of your favorite beverages! And there is always a chocolate milkshake as an alternative (made with chocolate ice cream of course).

Ed, he said he only had minor stinging upon urination at times, no real pain, other than the normal discomfort/pain of a catheter.

that's good to know James.  my discomfort is mostly mild and there is very little blood.  as long as it stays like that i can hang.
