Upset about still another lock on a thread of mine?????

I simply shared some legitimate information on a popular subject here.

I presented it as unbiased as I could, taking in account of how divisive the subject can be.

Instead of locking it because of the fight that broke out between billymack and f8, why didnt you simply delete the offending remarks and let the good part of the thread exist for more reasonable answers?

Starting to feel like there is some deliberate censorship taking place.  I do not feel this is a fair way to handle it.  It's like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Not happy about this, this was a legitimate thread about a legitimate subject, with information being shared from a legitmate oncology dietician/nutricianlist.

This is going to make me hesitate to share legitmate information in the future.

Now , I will expect this response to be locked or eliminated.

thanks 142, i wouldnt have posted this response, if you had e-mailed me about why you did it.

i hope my point about editing the offenders and their offending remarks is a better solution than locking away a legitimate thread.

the pom debate isn't one that will ever be fully decided upon, and we all know that. but for those that are new, i feel its always important to show information of both sides of the issues, and let others decide for themselves.

at no point in my almost 4 years here, have i ever indicated that it was wrong or stupid for someone to take on the POM route. its not for me, and i have had mutiple doctors that have treated me that have expressed the exact same opinion of the expert that i saw today.

hope you do re-consider unlocking it. by locking it under the present circumstances, i feel, in my humble opinion, is that it lets the "offenders" win a round without justification to do so.

i know your job as moderator is utter hell at times, and i do appreciate the ordeal that you and the others have to go through in this thankless job. i had my shot at it, and boy, was i ever quick to get out of the moderator business, lol.

I don't know how to comment. I thought your post was informative and the very interesting point of view of an expert. We should be able to discuss support or doubt reasonably. Expressing doubt or even comparing the subject of the post to previous supplements that have come and gone seems to be interpreted as a personal attack by those who use the supplements. Good on them using them, go for your life, but why the overly defensive attitude? Now I suppose somebody will interpret this post as some sort of disguised attack ----- it isn't.

I have just realized where my post has appeared. I guarantee that my words are not in response to anything else that was said. Bloody hell ---- now I have to explain every little thing in case it is misinterpreted. I am over this.

What do you mean "troll"?

There was no provatative intent on my part. I had an important meeting/session with a local oncology specific expert. I shared her exact words, to keep it accurate. I did not change a single word she said on the subject, nor did I ever tell her what I personally felt about the subject. I came here, simply shared the information and conversation. I don't know why anyone would remotely take it personally. If her opinion was the opposite, and she was glowing about the wonders of POM, I would have reported it literally the same way.

I know you didn't do this, so I am not accusing, but just because her opinion is the opposite of some here, and to those that partake of POM in one form or the other, shouldn't be an excuse by some to try to discredit her experience and opinion because it doesn't match up to their own opinion.

I missed the offending posts in the thread that was locked, then unlocked.

However, I have seen several other threads that have gotten locked and in my personal opinion, many could avoid the lock by people growing some thicker skin.

If a post offends me, I simply skip it and move on to the next one.

Agreeing to disagree would serve many well.

I'm glad we're back. Juliet, loved your post...you hit the nail square on the head.

Medicine is not an exact science...sometimes biased and often confusing, especially for us lay people. But, I personally think it's important to weigh all opinions. If a patient disagrees with a medical opinion, they have every right to challenge it and seek other options. If a patient agrees with an opinion, they also have every right to follow the protocol set by their medical team and not made to feel "less than" because of their choice.

Lastly, to our moderators and to Peter: thank you for giving us this place where we can come in confidence for information, advice, and a shoulder to lean on when things get rough.

Potential energy is so much more powerful and useful than kinetic energy. Unless of course you are trying to open a bottle of icy cold.
