three week from hernia surgery

Today it's been three weeks since I let the surgeon use a knife on me. Things are mostly healed but I still have some discomfort. I am still on restriction for how much I can lift but have been cleared to return to work on Monday.

The only good thing about the surgery is that it's taken my mind of the PC thing.

You know how after you've been treated for PC that any new ache or pain triggers you thinking the PC might be acting up? Well, now I am don't worry like that. Instead every sharp pain or dull ache triggers the fear that the surgery failed and I'll have to have another hernia repair. ;)

glad you are still on the mend, andrew, and cleared for work. but take it easy, and dont push your luck doing too much

yeah, know what you mean, i spend so much time in the pain department, i rarely sit around thinking about my own pc situation, at some point in the future, i will be forced to deal with it again

My URO told me not to worry about my small hernia unless it gets worse... It's getting worse mad

Only good news is that my insurance deductible is now $1500 instead of $3000...

I had my hernia repaired last November and I'm glad I did it. I never worried about it because it was small, but on one of my visits to the uro for my prostate he said "you know you have a hernia, right?" I said I did and that my GP said not to worry about it if it doesn't bother me. He said that if it popped out it could become an emergency situation. That worried me and I had the operation. I guess it's the same as PC, different views on how and when to treat it.

Glad you are feeling better. I did take me longer to recover that I thought it would.

In the shop!!!!!!I 've been out of computor land awhile but I have to say you have had alot ,my hat is off to you for being so tough.I had hernia surgery about amonth and 1/2 after ,prostectomy.No one knows what caused it but I didn't have it before ralp,I went through 18 days of 9 or 10 pain level before I could get help,uro said it wasn't caused from surgery,go figuire that.The hospital was treating me for back pain and it hurt in the groin,it turned out to be an igninal gernia most likely caused from displacement of tissue when they removed the prostate.It was a more painful surgery than the prosectomy and a total ankle replacement but it has ben a year and everthing is much better.Don't give up, keep grinding as you have ,just push them when you think your right,it seems like a long haul but things will get better!
