Interesting observations about passing the sutures and calcium deposits, what your Dr have to say about it?
Dr C was more interested than I expected. I had sort of expected the usual way-too-busy doctor thing. You know... "Well, Mr. DisAbelard, this happens sometimes [
you are wasting my time] but it usually resolves itself [
why are you here?]. So let's schedule you to come back in three months and we'll see how you are doing then.[
What time is it? Will I be late for lunch... again?]."
But he seemed genuinely interested and kinda geeked out with me about
it for a few minutes. Apparently, the sutures don't just "dissolve", your body actively attacks them so it wasn't surprising that the part that stuck out into the urine would still be intact. He said it was slightly unusual for a patient to still be shedding sutures at five months but not
that unusual and that as I continued to heal the tissues would eventually get around to attacking the parts that were embedded and any remaining sutures would be passed. As to my suggestion that my leaking was due in large part to irritation from the calcified sutures he said he'd bet I was right but that the radiation was also irritating.
We then talked about
strategies to let me show up for my IMRT sessions with a full bladder (which was the actual purpose of my visit). He wrote me a scrip for Vessicare (which does help some in that situation) and then we were done and it was time for lunch.
