1st time posting - Low dose Trimix long lasting effect

Hi there, first time posting.
I was using Caverject, first time 1 ml at doc office, then 0,5 ml at home with discomfort, then 0,3 ml [30 units], still hurting.
Move to Trimix, 0,10 ml [10 un] with almost 4 hs up, then to 0,06 ml [6 un] 3 1/2 hs up having to take some pills [tylenol synus, alegra, pseudoephedrine] luckly went down. Now thinking of going to 0,03 [3 un]. I wonder if anyone had a same problem?!

Welcome to hw. Thanks for joining us. Yes, it takes a while to dial in any of the injectables. Lucky for you, you are having to go down, instead of upwards. That gets more does per vial, so keeps the costs down, plus reduces the risk of 4 hr. erections somewhat. I would keep trying and reducing the dose until you find a consistent place where you can get what you need for as long as you need it. Some variation can be expected at any dose, but it can be more standardized. Good luck

Welcome to HW; glad you found us. Finding the right dose can be a challenge, and I’ve heard of guys having 3 and 4 hour erections. However, I think most of us start with a low dose and go up from there. That way you’re less likely to make a trip to the ER. I’ve never used Caverject, only Trimix. I started (in the dr office) at 0.05 ml (5 units) and gradually, patiently worked my way up to 0.20 ml (20 units), the dose that worked for me.

This is my experience. We’re all different so it’s not easy to compare doses. You also have to take into account that Trimix can be mixed differently per the doctor’s prescription. Unlike Caverject which is basically 100% alprostadil (a variant of prostaglandin), Trimix is a blend of three different medicines (papaverine, phentolamine, and prostaglandin) and doctors can prescribe different percentages for the mix, therefore there are different strengths of Trimix.

Be patient; I’m sure you’ll find the right dose for you.

Bass, it sounds like you had a sensitivity (discomfort) to the Alprostadil in caverject. Alprostadil is also in trimix, but it is not in bimix. I found that bimix did not give me the ache that trimix and caverject did. You might want to try that.

Hello everyone!  I am a new member and this is my first post.  Just a little background.  I am 49 and was diagnosed with PC in July 2012.  Had robotic surgery October 9, 2012.  Nerve sparing on right side.  6 weeks post-op psa level was undectectable.   ED meds did not work, just started with Trimix two weeks ago.  A little scary at first, but works great!  Took your advise and got a auto inject and 31 gauge needle 5/16.  Just did two shoots and still working with dosage.  Now let me thank you veterens on this site.  When I found out that I had PC, it was like hitting a brick wall.  Didnt know what to do or were to go.  Then I found this site.  You all helped me through the whole thing from getting a second opinion to the surgery and what to expect and now with my decision to use trimix.  I cant thank you all enough!  Your info has been on point!  It is nice to know there are good people that will walk with you through this journey.

vetteman, I didn't find this forum until awhile after my surgery. You are a good example of what I believe the goals are of this forum and the folks who post here - our experiences provide a first-person perspective of the struggles and decision-making that needs to go on with those of us affected by this cancer. In your case, you got a lot of what you needed just by lurking and learning from others here. I encourage you to also actively post, since everyone that has experience (even before a treatment choice) brings at least a slightly different point of view.

Bass29, The other have given you some good advise. Finding the right amount of rocket fuel does take some time. Hang in there you will get it right. The good thing to know is that it works. I use Caverject you will find that the TriMix or BiMix will be less expensive and work very well.

I just joined the forum yesterday although I have been reading in the background for sometime. I had RRP in 2006. Everything has been fine since except ED. Been the pills route but didn't like the side effects. about a year ago I tried Trimix in the uro office .05 (5 units) and had a 4+ hours erection. Had to return to the office to have it "let down". This scared me so much, I didn't try again until only recently. Went back to uro and he gave me .03 (3 units), really hard to see on the syringe but "VIOLA" 3 units did the trick for good erection lasting 1 - 1&1/2 hours. I guess some of us are lucky from the stand point of many many doses out of that tiny bottle :-) Keep trying, you will find the right dose.

Im thinking about doing injections as well. Just had a class on them today. I appreciate all the info. Did anyone try sudafed to help bring it down in case of very long lasting erection ?

Had prostatectomy in Jan 2015. Went on trimix a month later. Instructed in doctors office on how to inject and was dosed with .05 Alprostadil with semi-erection results. Given prescription for trimix PGE-1, 8.33mcg phentolimine, 0.833mg papaverine, 22.5mg.
Decided to start 1st injection at .10 as I didn't like results at doctors office. After 4hrs of an unbelievable erection, ended up in ER for 6hrs having to be given antidote (phenlyephrine) and "drain" my penis. No fun!
Watch out. This stuff is powerful, at least for me.
I've read that most men achieve results with <.05ml. Should have started there. Now very shy to even start at .04.
