AR-509 Trial Drug working well

Just got my latest PSA and it has now dropped to <0.05 !!!!!!  I was dx 10 years ago with Prostate Cancer which has already spread to  one lymph node and my seminal vesicles. It was also upgraded to a Gleason 8 after surgery .... along the way I have failed surgery,SRT, and ADT 3 ....to be doing so well at 10 years is a blessing. Once I knew that I had an aggressive cancer I have been very proactive in fighting it all along the way pushing my medical team, starting each successive treatment early on rather wait....kinda like your house  has a small fire burning why wait till it spreads to fight it !  Again this was my personal choice which may not be right for others but it sure has worked well for me !!!

I now will retire to the bar for a celebratory drink or two....and tomorrow I might even allow myself a hot dog, then back to my rigerous diet ( Mediterranian)

Well done.  I agree with you.  Fight it hard, early, and at every step.  When I had recurrence 18 months out, my surgeon wanted me to wait six months just to do another PSA test.  I told him "See you around," and moved onto a medical center that was willing to be aggressive.  Lost a few months in the process; still furious with the original guy for losing me time.  Haven't read much about the ARN trial.  Best wishes!

Three month doubling time (summer 2011).

PSA rose from .07 on 06/11 to .17 on 11/11.

MRIs and bone scans negative so far.

Started hormone therapy (Lupron/Casodex) 12/11

Began radiation (SRT) 02/20/12.

Finished SRT 04/16/12

Last Lupron shot 03/12

PSA and testostorone "undetectable"  07/12

Next PSA and testostorone test early January

love reading a good news story like yours. each PC case is unique, and what works for you, is the best solution for you. the proof is in the pudding, you are 10 years out, pulling a fantastic psa number like that with an aggressive cancer. you must be doing something right.

so sure, you got plenty to celebrate, enjoy the good news.

Thanks all. Zufus... the entry criteria was  3 rises in PSA while on ADT 3 , then had to go off casodex and avodart for 6 weeks, no chemo or keto. I consider myself lucky that my onco offered a chance to get in. The one problem was that PSA was only .52 ...he wasn't sure that Aragon Pharm would let me in with a PSA so low, but now it sure appears that starting early can lead to excellent results.....this would be good for the sponsor since it could open an even bigger market,more sales, more money....sad all this is money driven....but for me I have the advantage for now.
