I had to pay for the PDF but if someone can find it this paper has some good data in it.

For all the G6 OC guys 0 people have died or developed systematic spread after 25 years.  It appears that only 2 people died who were diagnosed in the pre-psa era.  They had SVI.  So now for the OCG6 guys we have some good long term (30 years) data on surgery results.

This paper has data from 10 years before PSA and then 20 years after. 

Here is the data.  These graphs are pre-PSA era.  All men were diagnosed before 1991.

Thanks for posting this.  Johns Hopkins has a sterling reputation for both their prostate cancer treatment and their research.  I read a lot of published information from Johns Hopkins after I was diagnosed with PCa in 2006 at age 56.  I also read Patrick Walsh's book.  This influenced my decision to go with prostatectomy for early-stage prostate cancer.  My family is long-lived and I have no other health problems.  I'm now in my seventh year cancer-free and am confident that I will be one of the 30-year survivers.  Reading this study  made my day.

Hey ChrisR,

That's great news there for all of us G6 guys. I was 42 at surgery last year.

I just had my one year test last week. It's the second PSA post my 11/4/11 open surgery at Hopkins. Both zeroes. 25 years will get my kids thru college. :) I guess I can retire after that.

Thanks for posting all the studies you do ChrisR. You know I appreciate it and it's great info for all the G6 guys who come in scared about what lies ahead.
