Does anyone know if there are different models of CyberKnife in use? Has anyone ever asked a facility what model they are using? I think it is a fair question.
Thanks.

David:
As far as I know, there are two models in use. One has manual collimators and the other uses the IRIS, which is an automatic collimator - doesn't require the operator to make a change - the IRIS is controlled ( adjusted ) by the computer that controls the machine. They both employ a 6MeV photon LINAC and the LINAC on both is mounted on a robotic arm.
Dr. Katz claims there is an advantage in using the IRIS - his Center has the CK model that has one. It certainly is more versatile than having to do a manual change during a treatment.

Thanks. That is exactly what I wanted to know.
