No, this has nothing to do with Casey's exercise challenge!
about 6 weeks ago, we bought a really nice power juicer (Jack LaLannes brand).
We are using it once a week and like it. I would say from start (cutting/gathering/preparing the fruits and vegetables) to finish (drinking the juice and then cleaning the machine) it takes about 70 minutes. You really need to clean it right away and it is a pain. We would probably use it more often if it wasn't such a pain to clean.
Anyway, so far we have just been experimenting on our own. We are finding fruit juices (oranges, pears, grapes, pineapples, apples) to be fantastic. Incidentally this juicer works much better than one we tried years ago. We get much more juice. When we do vegetables alone (carrots, celery, cucumbers, etc.), sometimes it is delicious and at other times...well...GROSS comes to mind. I think the solution will be to do vegetables but make sure a lot of fruit is added to the mix.
Any ideas? It seems like a good way to get some food value.
I will say the pulp is totally removed. Consequently, there is no fiber and that is NOT good. So one should look at other sources of fiber (I will just cut up an orange or grapefruit and eat it).
So, are any of you into juicing. Suggestions, comments, etc.?
