Finally, I got someone to run a BNP on Dad (87 next month) and it was very high. Thank goodness for the oncologist listening to me, when no one else cared to....Oncologist called Dad's cardiologist, and dad has an appt this morning.
Seems we are dealing with advanced prostrate ca and congestive heart failure. Dad will be getting zytiga for the bone mets for the prostrate ca and hopefully, his cardiologist will be able to treat the heart failure to at least get some of the edema down in his legs.
My main concern is that dad can return to some of his former activites -taking a short walk, going to his lady friend's for the weekend, things he was able to do a short two months ago.
I'm not expecting a miracle, just some relief from his "tree trunk legs" -- I am so thankful to his oncologist for coordinating all of Dad's specialist doctors, and figuring out a difficult and involved diagnosis.
Will keep you informed how it goes.
