post chemo neuropathy

My husband had 6 taxotere treatments last year, ending the first part of August, and is still suffering with neuropathy in his feet. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, has anything helped with it? Also, how long did it last? He had one night where the pain was so bad he had to take something so he could sleep.

Hi, I had 2treatments of Taxtoere in 2006 for breast cancer. I had a level 4 allergic reaction to the mixing agent (turns our they mix it with castor oil). I have had terrible neuropathy on both of my feet ever since. I was taking oxycotin and percote for 5 years just so that I could work. Nov 26 2012, i was forced to quite my great job because I could no longer get enough pain relief so that I could work.
My pain doctor kept telling me that she wanted to cut be back on the meds. I told her that I had built up a tolerance to the meds and actually needed more. I had to part ways with her.

I hope that your husband will go get some pain meds. From what i have read, if the nerves that were damaged by the chemo had not gotten better within 6 months, they are not going to. There are other drugs you can try, Lyrica and Neurontin. I tried them but they did not work on my pain.
