My dad has had prostate cancer with mets since 2005. He have had 2 rounds with chemo, one in 2005, and one in 2011. He started Zytiga in october 2012. When he started his PSA was about
300, and now in february it has dropped to 51! At first thought I thought this was great, but is it really? Because I think I've read somewhere that the average time before the PSA starts to rise is about
6 months. Is that correct?
But how can people on Zytiga only live 4 months longer than people on placebo if it takes 6 months before the psa starts to rise? In my opinion people should live 6 months longer if the PSA doesn't start to rise before 6 months, and furthermore in 10 months longer if it takes 10 months before PSA rise?
I also read the clinical trial results which sais that there are only 2 people out of the 750 people that started the trial with Zytiga that still live after 18 months. But this can't be right? I've read other places that several hundred people have already lived 4 years after the phase III trial. What is correct?
